Each purchase of this kit provides much-needed income to conserve historic embroideries at Glamis Castle, in Angus Scotland.
View the CollectionInspired by the richly embroidered stomacher in a 16th-century portrait at Glamis Castle, this striking design by Deborah Wilding captures the splendour of Tudor court dress. The painting of Lady Arbella Stuart, once considered a potential successor to Elizabeth I, provides the historical inspiration for this remarkable piece.
Worked in silk and metal threads, the kit explores a range of decorative stitches and goldwork techniques, including padded satin stitch, laid work, couching, French knots, applying pearls, beads, gilt plate, pearl purl, and passing thread. Proceeds from this kit support the Glamis Castle Textile Collection.
The materials in this kit have been carefully chosen for their exceptional quality from providers we know and trust, all of whom are based and manufacture in the UK. All of our kits come with a threads guarantee – if you run out of a particular thread (or it finds its way into the mount of a furry friend!), we will replace it free of charge, you just cover the shipping.
