About the Design

Feller Tiny Wings

In a brief interlude from our Gawthorpe inspired designs, this latest design by Kate Barlow is inspired by the Feller Mirror, a 17th century embroidered mirror frame from the renowned Michael & Elizabeth Feller Collection. The original frame is currently the subject of an advanced year-long course in silk shading with Kate and this design was created to showcase some of the smaller motifs on the design.

Two butterflies and a third winged friend flutter around a small flower in this charming arrangement with clever use of silk and gold highlights, and subtle placement of spangles. This sweet design is the perfect introduction to the Feller Mirror collection - bringing together the elegance and simplicity of the original, in a fun and approachable 2-day class.

Kate will guide you through all the techniques needed to create your very own piece of the Feller Mirror Collection.

What else will I need?

In addition to the kit, you will need:
An 8 inch ring frame, bound if possible
Embroidery scissors
Gold work scissors (or old embroidery scissors)
A Mellor or other laying tool
Lamp and magnifier if needed

When will my kit be delivered?

Packages will be sent in time for the start of your class. We cannot accept cancellations after your kit has been dispatched, which will be in early January.

How do I join the class?

Accessing Zoom

This class will take place online. You will be sent the Zoom link in good time for the session by email. The link will also be accessible through our community platform.

In order to make the most of your experience, we recommend to:

- Use a desktop computer of laptop to connect to the Zoom session (we don’t recommend joining with a smart phone as you will struggle to see the stitch demonstrations on the small screen. Zoom controls can also be challenging to manage on a tablet so we recommend a larger device if you have one)
- Have the Zoom software ready downloaded on your device
- Find a quiet, comfortable place to sit with a stable place to rest your device.

Are the classes recorded?

Lifetime Access

All the Zoom workshops will be recorded and offered to those booked on to the specific class as a backup for anything they have missed or would like to go over. These recordings will be accessible indefinitely.
