Bird on a Bough Kit

Advance your embroidery technique with the Bird on a Bough Kit. This classic design captures a serene bird perched on a vibrant flower, surrounded by delicate foliage. Perfect for those who enjoy densely stitched Crewel Work in the Jacobean style.

During our research we have studied this same late 17th Century design on bed hangings in many different locations around the world. We believe that all were originally designed in a ‘Broderers’ workshop in England.

Bird on a Bough kit

Quick and efficient delivery. Great value for money. A real quality product presented beautifully and so well organised.Fantastic instructions. I am so pleased to have purchased something so beautiful and there is the extra bonus that a contribution goes to preserving the original embroidery . I can’t wait to start stitching. I am going to make it as an heirloom for my daughter. Many thanks.

Bird on a bough

Beautiful kit with lovely materials and clear instructions. I am going to change the colours on the bird because I really don’t like the pale yellow used on the feathers. I realise this is a very personal thing and it in no way reflects on the quality of the kit!

Great design, very vibrant colours

I ordered this design a while ago and to be honest, at the beginning I was a bit shocked by how vibrant some of the colours were. However, they all blended together beautifully during stitching and the end result was very pleasing. The one downside is, that I did run out of one or two colours (although I'm sure that everything is calculated perfectly). Luckily I had similar tones in my stash, so it wasn't a big problem. It's a wonderful design with some stitches that were new to me, so it's also a great way to learn new things.

A Variety of Stitches

This is the ninth kit I have purchased from the Crewelwork Company. It has a good variety of stitches and bright jewel tone colors. It is a fun yet relaxing composition to work with. Looking forward to completing and framing.
