Redwork Nuthatch

This product is currently sold out.

This charming little bird is from an altar frontal, circa 1650, which is currently part of the textile collection of The Embroiderers’ Guild of Great Britain. We believe that this ‘travelling’ altar frontal was created for Catholic services during a time of conflict and religious uncertainty in the mid 17th Century.

Our new redwork designs use natural cochineal-dyed fine red embroidery wool, as did the original.
