Gawthorpe Parrot - 3-Day Workshop with Harriet Roberts - 30 Nov-2 Dec 2027

For the first time, The Crewel Work Company is bringing a small programme of in-person classes to the United States, giving our Stateside stitchers a wonderful opportunity to learn one of our historic designs without travelling across the Atlantic.

The Mellerstain Firescreen will be taught by Harriet Roberts during an intimate three-day class in Oxford, Mississippi. A long-standing Crewel Work Company supporter and so-creator of several of our special edition designs, Harriet has stitched extensively with Phillipa over many years and, under her guidance, has become a trusted crewel work company ambassador and tutor. Her familiarity with our projects, techniques and approach makes her particularly well placed to guide students through this beautiful piece.

Classes are deliberately small and take place in Harriet’s own home, creating a relaxed and welcoming environment with plenty of opportunity for individual attention. Across the three days, Harriet will guide students through the Mellerstain Firescreen, helping with techniques, troubleshooting and all those small details that make such a difference to the finished embroidery.

Refreshments are provided each day (lunch is not included), so once you arrive, you can settle in and enjoy three days devoted to stitching, learning and spending time with fellow crewel enthusiasts. You will also have a chance to look around Harriet's home, which is a veritable museum of crewel work company designs.
