This beautiful project is inspired by the exquisite foxglove design featured on the 17th-century Kinghorne Bed, the centerpiece of the castle’s King’s Dressing Room—a space with direct royal connections, as Glamis was the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother and the bed once belonged to Charles II.
During this immersive class, you’ll learn the art of gold couching and silk embroidery, mastering techniques that echo the opulence and craftsmanship of the period. Kate will share insights into the history of the Kinghorne Bed, the symbolism of the foxglove motif, and the significance of these treasures within the castle’s storied walls.
