Askham Hall is a family-owned Michelin-starred restaurant and hotel situated on the edge of beautiful Askham village and in the heart of the Lowther Family Estate. Currently run by Hon. Charles Edwin Lowther, Askham has become one of the finest culinary destinations in Britain in recent years.

Originally a family home, Askham's 19 bedrooms are all individually decorated and have a warm, welcoming feel. There have been many royal guests over the years, including Prince Philip, who slept in The Admiral's Room every year for 30 years whilst competing at the annual Lowther Show.

Arrival: The retreat will officially begin at 5.30pm on Saturday 2nd March 2024 at our Edinburgh Hotel, where we will spend our first night. We recommend flying to Edinburgh Airport, which is a 30 minute taxi journey to the hotel (we will provide transfers from Edinburgh Airport and local train stations). We will then travel north to Askham Hall at 9am the following day.

Departure: The retreat will end at Askham Hall on Tuesday 12th March at 9am. Onward travel will be provided to Penrith Train Station, Edinburgh Airport and Edinburgh Hotel (city centre).

"Thank you for this extraordinary retreat which surpasses all my expectations. This is really a dream come true: perfect organisation, talented tutors, excellent food, superb service. In other words a perfect world: just us and embroidery. Nothing else to worry about." - Genevieve, Belgium 2017, 2018 and 2019 Spring Residential Retreat participant (Lake District retreat)

"A big thank is due to you for one of the most stimulating and interesting week that I have had for some time. The mixture of nationalities was great and created interesting conversations, other than embroidery!  - Jean, 2018 & 2019 Spring Residential Retreat participant (Lake District retreat)
