The Design
Silks of Many Colours!
During this 9-week course, expert tutor Zina Kazban will guide students through replicating an enlarged version of this exquisite early-18th century embroidered Valentine, which originates from a suite of needlework produced by London Quaker, Elizabeth Hall.
Students will receive two versions of the design so that they may complete the project in their preferred dimension.
The Collection
Choice & Precious Work: Treasures From the Schoolroom
Exhibited in 2023 by Witney Antiques and accompanied by a major book featuring the valentine on the back cover, the Elizabeth Hall & Friends Collection includes an incredible array of early modern English embroidered artefacts completed by Elizabeth Hall and a century of her Quaker descendants.
The Tutor
Zina Kazban
We are extremely proud to invite Zina to teach this course. Zina's talent and expertise as a professional hand-embroiderer, demonstrated over several years of working together, make her the perfect choice to lead this course. Zina is a graduate of the Future Tutors programme at the Royal School of Needlework and was professionally-trained in fashion embroidery at Ecole Lesage (Métiers d’Art CHANEL).

The aim of our long-format, online courses is to give you, the student, the time, the space, and the support to reach a new levels of learning in your embroidery practice, so that you may feel comfortable in challenging yourself to accomplish more complex needlework projects than you previously thought possible.

Prior embroidery experience is required
Students will have a choice of dimensions to stitch this design in - larger than original, and original. As such, this course is suitable for all levels.
