The Glamis Scottish Play Kit

Find your embroidery flair with the Scottish Play Crewel Work Kit. This unusual design replicates a 17th Century pillowe housed in the crypt at Glamis Castle in Fife, Scotland.

Featuring extravagantly oversized floral motifs, the original embroidery was likely repurposed from a set of Jacobean Bed hangings.

How we give back

We are passionate about keeping embroidery alive for future generations and supporting the talented artisans and dedicated technicians involved in their care.

To do this, where possible, we donate a percentage of the proceeds of the sale of our kits to the castle, country house, or institution that the original embroidery belongs to.

With this donation, we specifically support the care and safe-housing of the historic embroidery, as well as the training of staff involved in its upkeep.

My favorite kit ever

There is so much to do, and the design is so fanciful, that it was a constant joy to create. I love the feeling of being connected here with a bit of history.

Very lovely kit

This was my first ever attempt at crewel, and I loved it. Directions were clear and concise, referenced the large color photo often. The kit was packaged nicely, and included ample amounts of wool to complete project. Looking forward to completing my next kit.
