Welcome to Phillipa's festive stitching project, a fabulous unicorn Christmas Stocking, which you might have found out about on our Cosy Crewel Work Corner Videos on YouTube.
During this lockdown period, we want everyone in our community to find peace and calm in stitching a beautiful new design, so we are making it available to download and share for free. In the next series of videos, Phillipa will be showing you how to complete this design, from choosing your colours, transferring your design, mounting your frame, stitching the stocking, and finally blocking and finishing.
First though, download the full unicorn Unicorn Christmas Stocking design in A3 format (approx. 2 x letter if you're in the US) or alternatively download the design in A4 size (letter) across three pages - page 1, page 2, and page 3.
As long as you have a few materials in your stash (we are making the assumption that you do!) and a frame to stitch on, you won't need to buy anything to complete the project. Just download, print and await the videos each day.
We want you to feel free to stitch this stocking in any way you like. There are no rules and certainly no right or wrong way. Be free and relaxed and you won't fail in making your stocking spectacular.
You don't have to stick to linen and wool (so strictly this won't be entirely crewel work), it can include any ground fabric and threads you already have and want to use up. If you do need ground fabric or you particularly want to stitch it on to linen twill to keep it true to crewel work, we have the right size for you here.
We encourage you to relax and have fun with this stocking and create something fabulous for Christmas for yourself, a unicorn-loving child, a key worker, or anyone you know who might just treasure it forever.
